JASPER'S CATS

savrou, Jasper has come into possession of a pair of very small cats, two of several dropped fully formed onto the ship when the bonsai kitten tree bore its fruit. Ostensibly Jasper disapproves of how small they are, but has been impressed by their extremely sharp mouths and feet and has sort-of-reluctantly agreed to take care of them. She understands only vaguely how the process of growing to maturity works for organic life forms, and nurtures the private hope that one day they will become vastly larger than they are now.
They spend most of their time on or around the bed in the room that Jasper shares with Zam Wessell – Jasper herself doesn't use it on account of not needing or wanting to sleep – but sometimes they are just. In her hair. Jasper has a lot of hair, and the cats are very small.
As a culture Gems have a very poor understanding of the concept of names. Jasper refers to her cats as Orange Tabby and White Long Hair, or sometimes just "cat" when she has no need to distinguish between them.
